DRUMS/PERCUSSION/GUITAR • KEITH SORENSEN
Keith Sorensen is an award-winning musician, educator and performer. He has been described as, “inspiring…an exceptional musician and teacher.” A founding member of the nationally acclaimed Utah Wind Symphony, he performed in 2014 at The Midwest Clinic to an international audience. As an active musician, educator and performer, Keith has worked with a diverse group of artists, entertainers and students. From the classroom to the recording studio, his passion for people, music and life are infectious. He now lives in the Salt Lake City, Utah area with his wife and two children, and has a love/hate relationship with Dr. Pepper and the Utah Jazz.
Styles and Concepts
  • Drum Set: Rock/funk, jazz and world styles 
  • Snare Drum: Rudimental and orchestral (concert) 
  • Orchestral Percussion: Mallets (marimba, xylophone, vibraphone, etc.), timpani, snare drum, auxiliary instruments (cymbals, tambourine, triangle, etc.), hand percussion – essentially, anything you can hit! 
  • Prepare students for college acceptance, auditions and scholarships.
Studied with: Jay Lawrence, Dennis Griffin, JT Paasch and James Harrison. Master Studies with: Adam Nussbaum, Kelly Wallis and Rick Sinise. 

Formal Education: Bachelor of Music in Percussion Performance and Music Education at Utah State University.
Recorded or Performed with: Alex Boye, Alyson Cambridge, Alex Sharpe (of Celtic Woman), Maureen McGovern, Ney Rosauro, Sam Payne, Aaron Ashton, The Soulutions, The Terks, Lokalgrown, Utah Wind Symphony, Dr. Craig Jessop and the American Festival Chorus and Orchestra, and the 2002 Winter Olympics Closing Ceremonies Orchestra.
